Frequently Asked Questions

Below you will find frequently asked questions about Rise at State College apartments. If you have a question that hasn’t been answered on this page, feel free to contact our leasing office.

How much is rent at Rise at State College?

Rent will vary depending on the size, location in the building, and floor plan of each unit. For more information about rent or to reserve your spot, contact our State College, PA leasing office.

What’s included in the rent?

Your Rise at State College rent payment includes your amenities and many utilities, including trash, sewer, and water. Also included is high speed wireless internet and a cable package including the BIG 10 Network—allowing you to watch your Penn State Nittany Lions on the days you can’t make it to the game. Rise at State College pays for electricity and then bills each resident individually so you don’t have to collect money from your roommates each month.

What’s an "individual lease?"

In many cases of student housing, landlords require one check per unit. This means that usually one person is assigned the responsibility of collecting money from each renter and writing a single check. Rise at State College uses individual leases, which means everyone makes rental payments separately and no one else is responsible if one roommate fails to pay for the month.

How do I apply?

The entire application process can be completed either in the leasing office or online. Each resident who applies must pass a background check and each guarantor must pass a credit check. If you are interested in applying to live on an exclusive graduate student floor, you should select "Graduate Student" under applicant type.

Will I need a cosigner?

Only the residents of our PSU apartments will need to sign the lease, unless a potential resident doesn’t meet specific requirements on the background and credit check. In that case, we may ask a cosigner (also called a guarantor) to sign a Guaranty Form.

What does “guarantor” mean?

A guarantor is a person—usually a parent or guardian—who signs a Guaranty Form and agrees to assume financial responsibility if a resident has a hard time paying the rent.

What is the cost for application fees and security deposits at Rise at State College?

There is a $50 non-refundable application fee is due when a potential resident completes an application for Rise at State College. The application process includes a background check for the resident and credit check for the guarantor. We also require a one-time administration fee. For more information about fees, please contact our leasing office.
